Finding a Book

If you need help finding a book, you can use the attached handout, linked videos, or Ask a Librarian

Here are the basic steps:

  1. Choose the Library Catalog tab on the library homepage.
  2. Type in a word or phrase and search.
  3. Select a result.
  4. Write down the book's title and call number. For help locating the Call Number, see the attached file or How to Read Call Numbers (link opens to new window).

Checking Out a Book

During the Library Renovation, only library personnel can pull books from the stacks. Once you have found the book(s) you want to check out, bring the Book Title or Call Number with you to the Circulation Desk on the 1st Floor of the Library. They will retrieve the book for you, and you will check out the book at the same desk. You will need your Lamar/LIT ID to check out the book(s).
