If a book is listed with “no copies currently available” and has an estimated wait period indicated, another library patron has checked out the book. You may place a hold on checked out items by first clicking the Full Details button then clicking the Hold button on the on the full details screen. You need your User I.D. Number (the 13-digit barcode number found on the back of your Lamar University or L.I.T. identification card) and your PIN. Your PIN is changeme unless you have changed it using the User PIN Change option in My Account. (If you have any problems with your User I.D. number or PIN, please visit the Circulation Desk on the first floor of the library.)
After you put a hold on an item, the person who has the book may keep the item until it is due, but will be unable to renew the item. This time period is indicated by the estimated wait period. If other people have placed holds on the item before you, their potential checkout periods are also calculated in the estimated wait period. When the item is turned in and your hold request is next, you will be notified to pick up the item at the Circulation Desk on the first floor of the library.
You may also place a hold on a book available at the Ron E. Lewis Library at Lamar State College in Orange, Texas.
NOTE: If you place a hold on a book that is currently available in the Gray Library, nothing happens. Books available on the shelves are first come, first serve.
